Our History

A timeline of resilience.

Johann Hoschtialek, Founder and CEO of 195in365, speaking in a podcast interview

It all began with a conversation between a father and his daughter. Looking at the state of our planet in 2018 and asking ourselves what we could do about it. A father telling his daughter: let’s go around the world and ask the world to change. A dream born from necessity and a vision to touch every corner of the Earth. To reach all 195 countries in 365 days, bringing attention to the climate crisis, educating minds, inspiring hearts and mobilising people to act. That spark became a fire. That fire became 195in365.

Since our launch on , we have chosen action over observation. From local communities and youth forums to international stages, we have raised our voices for oceans, reefs, islands, young people and the future of our planet. We have presented to governments and international organisations, spoken at COP27, COP29 and COP31, testified at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and connected with leaders, scientists, educators and changemakers across the world. Our message has always been simple: we cannot wait for change; we must be part of creating it.

But our work has never been limited to stages and conferences. We have taken action on the ground through climate education, beach cleanups, Earth Day campaigns, water safety initiatives, emergency response, inclusion projects and youth engagement. We have supported marginalised voices, championed young women in leadership and explored innovative solutions, including pioneering work around sargassum-powered mobility. Global ambition must always be matched by local action.

As we move forward, the journey becomes even bigger. Through the 195in365 Global Action and the “Be the Change” Global Challenge, we are building a worldwide movement of young people, communities, experts, organisations and changemakers. We believe the future is not something we simply inherit; it is something we create together.

195 countries. 365 days. One shared mission. Be the Change.
